Our Pollinator seed mixes are designed to provide 3 seasons with blooming and plant diversity to attract birds, bees, butterflies and other insect friends. Our Monarch Pollinator seed mixes are also designed to provide 3 seasons of blooming and plant diversity to attach birds, bees, butterflies and other insects but what make them different than our pollinator mixes is the species specific to monarch butterflies. 60 % of the wildflower species in our monarch blends are species that provide nectar for energy that the monarch requires for their migration journey. The blends also include 2 milkweed species which are the host plants for monarch reproduction.

*ESSENTIAL blends contain a minimum seed rating recommendation and species diversity. These blends are great starter mixes if you are new to planting natives or if you are looking to overseed an existing planting.

*HEARTLAND’S CHOICE blends offer increased species diversity and a higher seed rating, more blooms and color in all 3 seasons, ideal for flat planting areas and those with gentle slopes.

*HEL blends provide a higher seed rating with both wildflowers and grasses for flat planting areas and areas where erosion is a concern.

Pollinator blends with native grasses add both an aesthetic aspect to a blend and increase wildlife diversity. Grass provides additional bedding material and the grasses with hollow stems are utilized by some insects for wintering over. Grass is also a necessary component when using prescribed fire as a maintenance tool. Grass provides material to carry fire in wildflower plantings.
