Wild Geranium (Geranium maculatum) is one of our first bloomers in the Missouri spring.
With its purple/ pink blooms it is a favorite to many butterflies, bees and even deer will enjoy the blooms and sometimes the foliage.
This woodland species prefers the shade, but under the right soil conditions can take full sun as well. It spreads easily forming patches of beautiful foliage well into the summer.
Wild Geranium has been used for centuries by many to cure, reduce or ease symptoms of sore throat, mouth ulcers, inflamed gums or to promote coagulation to stop bleeding.
